Kids are Great
There’s no doubt that the joy of Trudi’s and my life are our children. They have shown us what love is all about. They brighten our day and fill our lives with laughter and questions. I wish I could remember every special moment that has slipped like sand through the fingers of my mind. Nevertheless, I’ll mentions some recent accounts and over time I’ll throw in some of the older memories.
In the last two months
It was mid winter and my wife was running the kids from place to place. She was heading back to the church on Quincy Street when she saw a boy picketing the church. As she got closer she saw that it was our son Josiah. He was holding up a sign that stated “If you want to ask Jesus into your heart, ask me.” He asked Trudi if she could see it. It was a little small she said. It was the thought of it (obviously) that blessed us. There was no instigation by anyone, yet a 10 year old boy stood in the cold holding up a sign for Jesus. WOW, I love it. Josiah was ready afterwards with a pen and a card with a ‘salvation poem’ on it to help someone say a prayer to receive Jesus.
A child was sick on a Sunday morning. We decided that we would keep them all home so as to not spread anything around. My oldest Christina (14 yr.) began to plead. “Dad, I have to go to church, I love church, I’ll die without church.” It’s neat to see her so hungry for the things of God.
For years every Sunday morning, my 3 oldest would get up with me at 5 am on Sunday mornings. They wanted to be at church as soon as they could possibly get there.
